The Kipton Sandstone Quarry is located in north central Ohio. We mine our sandstone from our 56 acre
property of which 7 acres is an open pit with a depth of 125 feet. According ro a recent geological report,
we have sandstone reserves of up to 600 million ton. Our grey and buff stone, from the Berea formation, is of
the highest quality of its kind in the world. It has been used in some of the most beautiful architectural
structures in North America. It is also used to mekae cores for testing and research in the oil industry.
Our facilities include a state of the art sawing system, run by computer. The large saw has a steel blade 11.5 feet
in diameter and capable of cutting blocks up to 15 ton. The small saw has a blade 6 feet in diameter and is used
to customize stone for special orders. The water that is used for our sawing system is available from our
natural underground freshwater spring.
Landscaping with sandstone has become extremely popular. Outdoor grills, fire pits, and fireplaces made from
sandstone has transformed the backyard barbecue into additional living space to enjoy and entertain in your home.
We have a variety of assorted flat stone and boulders to create patios, walkways, and walls.
We invite you to come and visit our quarry. The possibilities are endless and with a little imagination you can create
a one-of-a-kind landscape for your home or business.
